We are very grateful to share life with NAVAJO-CHURRO sheep at Five Ponds Farm.   Some characteristics of these beautiful sheep:  excellent temperament and smart (they survived despite horrific odds)  highly disease-resistant  survive on marginal pasture where other breeds fail  produce much-sought-after wool that comes in many colors  sport terrific horns (both rams and ewes may have them)  ewes lamb easily and are fiercely protective  incomparably superior, low-fat meat (see Slow Food USA)

Picture to right is Santo at 5-6 months of age.   He was sheared shortly thereafter in preparation for his trip to Missouri from Oregon.   Picture to left is Santo at 9 months of age, his fleece showing about 3 months' growth, his horns gaining length. Although his outer coat may change color, he will retain the dark facial, leg, and underbelly markings of the black badger.
