  •  excellent temperament and smart (they survived despite horrific odds)
  •  highly disease-resistant
  •  survive on marginal pasture where other breeds fail
  •  produce much-sought-after wool that comes in many colors
  •  sport terrific horns (both rams and ewes may have them)
  •  ewes lamb easily and are fiercely protective
  •  incomparably superior, low-fat meat (see Slow Food USA)

Hope to see ewe later . . . !
Picture to right is Santo
at 5-6 months of age.
He was sheared shortly
thereafter in preparation
for his trip to
Missouri from Oregon.

Picture to left is Santo
at 9 months of age,
his fleece showing
about 3 months' growth,
his horns gaining length.

Although his outer coat
may change color, he will
retain the dark facial, leg,
and underbelly markings
of the black badger.
