The last two Spring seasons have provided some challenging weather. Balmy days

have been followed by freezing temperatures. Spring 2007 produced a

prolonged

freeze that zapped plants and really set them

back

after they had leafed and

blossomed out

. Gratefully,

most of ours have rebounded beautifully. The freeze was

actually

a great proving ground, giving us insight on which varieties are the hardiest.

We do not baby our stock and will not select a variety for our gardens if it requires

too much

maintenance. Our feeling is that the majority of gardeners share our

interest in growing

gorgeous and productive plants that thrive without a lot of fuss.
